Socotra officially belongs to Yemen and is administered as Yemen’s Socotra Governorate. Despite sitting geographically much closer to the Horn of Africa, it has been part of Yemen for over a century and operates with a significant degree of local autonomy.
Flights arrive at Socotra Airport (SCT) in Hadibo, with the main international connection via Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Flights operate twice a week — Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Yes. All nationalities require a Yemeni visa to enter Socotra, and it cannot be obtained independently. It must be arranged through a licensed tour operator. LFE Socotra will help you through the entire process.
Socotra is geographically far removed from the conflict affecting mainland Yemen. Visitors often describe the Socotri people as friendly and welcoming.
The usual experience is built around the flight schedule, therefore most of our customers spend 8 days on the island. If you wish to do an extensive program, we can arrange that for you as well.
Many solo female travelers decide to visit Socotra every year. The local Socotri people are known for their hospitality and respect for tourists. As Socotra is a Muslim community, we recommend modest clothing when visiting towns and cities, while beachwear is expected at the beach. Our crews are carefully selected to offer a professional and comfortable experience.
Yes, travel insurance is highly recommended as it is not covered with the tour package. Look for a policy that explicitly covers Yemen or Socotra, as many standard policies exclude the region due to mainland Yemen’s travel advisories.
Booking is simple — browse our Socotra travel packages, choose the duration that fits you, and send us a message via WhatsApp with the duration and number of people you'd like to book for. The flight ticket and visa are charged upfront, while the cost of the tour is paid in cash on the island.
